Just wondering if you'd be prepared to do some calcs for lintel sizes for me, window and door openings in a wall that is brick inner leaf and stone rubble outer. It's sufficiently thick that 2 steels would be required. One opening is 4 metres edge to edge, another is 2.3m on the inner and 1.2 on the outer, though it's near the top if the wall and bears little weight, and the last is about 5m though both sides of that wall are brick
Putting them on headed paper would be ideal and I'm not expecting it done for free, but if the advice is "engage a structural engineer" then I'll do so (just didn't think it warranted it for something so simple)

i am a technician by trade, but its not worth the hassle of me doing the calcs just to save the client £50-100 for a steal beam calc.. i have a couple of structural engineers who i know will do calcs at a decent price

Thanks CW, I've since found an SE that has inspected the wall and is happy to do calcs in that price range; took a few attempts mind, the first SE looked at a photo, was adamant the building would collapse and wouldn't take it on. The second looked at a photo, wanted £400 to devise a complex system of supporting steelwork that would have impinged on the use of the building. The third guy came to site, said "no probs here" and is doing the calcs now..

Amazing variation really!
