Jumping in here...so if my shared wall is solid brick and my floor is concrete I mainly need to worry about higher frequency sound?

My house is pretty tiny, so I'm not so worried about the price/m2 more about how much of my breathing space I lose.
I also read on a US site about latex paint with micro-beads that not only cuts noise transmission but acts as heat insulation (the other bugbear I have with my solid walls). Can't find any sign of it on UK sites though.
