I've just seen a huge bird of prey getting harrassed by a (carrion) crow. This thing was very much light brown, with long tapered/rounded wings. And probably more than twice the size of the crow (well the body perhaps wasn't twice as big, but the wings easily were)..

Anyone any ideas?

View media item 22167Is it like this, which is the common buzzard, very often see crows worrying buzzards like this I don't know if the crows percieve the buzzard as a threat, some times you will see the buzzard flip on its back trying to grab the crows.

I have seen buzzards, but this things seemed to have a lot slimmer wings... and was much redder...

Could it have been a red kite?

Don't know we haven't got red kites down this way,but I do believe they are making a comeback.I think the kites tail is more forked was the bird you observed like that.

was it any of these:
