Looks like an Aka Koi to me. If it is you will need a large tank ! It would be better off in someone else's pond.

Could be a shubunkin, although normally mottled we have had pure orange ones, or a hybrid of some sort. How large is it? confining it to a small tank if its used to a pond wouldn't be very fair.

Thanks for the replies.

My fish is probably about 7-8 inches long (I did say fish) from nose to end of the tail fin. I was thinking of transferring it to a 3ft long tank. Would you say this was sufficiently big for the fish ?

I have a friend who keeps varieties of Carp in his fish pond and he reckons it's a Comet Goldfish. I looked up a few fotos of Comet Goldfish on the web and I'm not convinced. The slim body of my fish seems to be more like a Koi Carp (or similar) rather than the more rounded body of a goldfish species. But then again I'm no expert.

Cheers,

Taz

No.

Why would you want to keep it like that anyway?

Give it to someone who will look after it properly - in a pond.

That my friend is definately a fish of the goldfish variety. At 8"+ as has been otherwise suggested find a willing pond owner to take it off your hands, don't for christs sake condemn it to a life in a 3' tank.

It is definately a shark. It looks like a maneater so get rid down the toilet!!

Anyone can see it's a cocker-spaniel, give it a few bonio's and a pat from time to time to keep it happy, it's coat shiny and it's nose wet ( patting on the head will of course do this if applied heavily enough to make it sink below the water line).
Don't forget to take it for walks on a regular basis.
If you decide in the end to put it into a tank make sure it's not one of those Abrams or Shermans as they can get a bit cramped.
Oh and you could have thought of a more original name for it than Bob! :)

taz, how would you like to swap a 4 bed detatched house for a bedsit??
yes you can survive in it but you would prefer the house wouldn't you??
have a heart and give it a proper home.

alternatively.. a few chips, tartar sauce, hmmmm........................

Lightly scrubbed with a handful of Rosemary, gently boiled in milk, and served with a bed of rocket!

and a dash of lemon juice

Keep the fish in the pond, tell local anglers that you have a specimen fish and sell day permits for fishing 8)

how did you catch it, maggots and a fishing rod or did you manage to tickle it??
