Thats been dryfired. water will be in the system but with low flow.
Strip the heat engine and it will be shot to bits.

New boiler, no question

Just needs a new burner/heat exchanger assembly.

Thats the first one I have heard of that has overheated like that.

its condensate corrosion its nothing to do with dry firing or . see image on my other posting ravenheat heat exc ' condensate corrosion .
