I am having my bathroom re done and really like the idea of a omnitub

www.omnitub.co.uk

having this would mean I can have a bath and separate shower (reducing airing cupboard size slightly)

Anyone got one? just wondering what you think.

Have fitted a couple.

Bleeding heavy.

Not Japanese the way we use them here though ;).

Last one we did had the shower over it. as it was a very narrow bathroom.

Looks very nice but I would always make sure there is access to trap/tap connections etc should the have a problem further down the line.
Do you think there is room for a diving board?

Or goldfish?

I have a "Japanese soaking tub" with shower over in my en suite, installed by the previous owner.

It is OK as a shower, though clambering in and out can be a bit silly. Don't leave tools on the step! Ideally, do something to make the step non-slip and have a handle. But the same floor area could be used for a much better normal shower i.e. would fit two much more easily.

As a tub, I would prefer to lie down. It takes a lot of water to fill to neck-high, and any lower is pointless.

It is also quite an effort to clean as you either need to lean right over or get inside.

It sounds like your choice is (a) omnitub and separate shower or (b) conventional bath with shower over. Given that choice, I'd go for (b).
