I have used these people before for a TR6 windscreen. He fitted it free of charge so he could show his guys how to fit an old school screen. I supplied the rubber and trim. May be worth a call.
When I bought my van from the first owner the screen had a crack in it from top to bottom. The deal was I bought it like that and previous owner suggested I get it changed on my insurance. Waited 3 months after buying it then put in a claim. Got it renewed and didn't affect my NCB.
Our friends next door neighbour has a Lotus Elise and he is at this moment arguing with his insurance company who are refusing to pay the full amount for the screen replacement as the front clamshell has to be removed for screen replacement. No windscreen fitters will undertake that so it normally has to go to a specialist for the clam to be removed, then the windscreen co. come in and fit the screen, then the specialist refits the clam. Bit of a PITA to do apparently.
Sadly, they don't seem to be willing to talk to me. None of the contact numbers on their website appear to work! I've filled in the "contact us" form, but I'm not holding my breath!

I agree it wouldn't hurt to at least talk to the insurance company. I wouldn't want it to do anything t his no-claims or next year's premium though, and definitely wouldn't want the insurance company to just appoint someone without letting me try and salvage the old screen trims!
