Anyone seen this type of isolation valve before?

Anyone seen an iso valve like this before? More to the point, I'm assuming it IS an isolation valve. If it turns out to be something else, please advise. It's on the inlet to WC cistern, so fairly certain.......

It's certainly a "ball-o-fix" type iso valve. Bit odd that it appears to screw into the cistern though. It looks like the type you can turn with a hex key if the screwdriver slot isn't strong enough.
