Hello,

I write on behalf of a friend.

He has an Apollo boiler, the problem being in that the radiators downstairs do not appear to be heating up. Upstairs are fine.

He also has only around a third of a tank of stored hot water after the system has been on for three hours.

All this has occurred after he fitted an isolating valve into the downstairs hot pipework whilst installing a new sink. He had to drain some of the water off to do this of course.

Sorry if this is vague, but any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

whats the system S plan, Y plan, how many tanks in loft. Exactly where did he fit the isolator?

Not sure but I will ask.

The valve was fitted just below the new sink in the kitchen.

Thank you for replying, and I'll get back to you.

I think its a Y system as there is diverter valve (solenoid operated) below tank. Funnily enough its now working.

Thanks again, any ideas ?

Its not a solenoid its a motor
quite baffling, if as you say, only the HW circuit tampered with

partial blockage of cold feed so the system took a while to refill?
or just an airlock that has now cleared.
