Our wall mounted (MYSON) Apollo Fanfare 30/50 wall mounted gas CH boiler (ageing as it is but still sound) developed a squeaky fan unit over the past 2 months but it always rotated and generated enough pressure difference to trip the pressure switch. However, occasionally the fan would come to rest in a 'flat spot' and the fan motor would struggle to rotate but it would 'kick in' within 5-10 seconds... That is until today.

You can still hear the motor humming as it tries to turn the fan but nothing is happening. This strained hum occurs with the thermostat switch in all 3 positions (hi.off.low).

The question is.../can spares still be got (ie a complete/exchange fan assembly) if so where, or is the motors maintainable with new brushes etc? The part No. as listed in my original catalogue is FAN ASSEMBLY Smiths FFB0219/003.

All help welcomed
Trevor

No problem. Simply buy another one, once you've arranged the overdraft!

You may be able to get a discount off the rrp, which is shown at the bottom, academic interest only tbh - you'd be better to bin the boiler.
This is one of the few cases where a reconditioned fan makes sense.
