Aqualtis smells of burning rubber/electical and is noisy

Hi, My 31/2 year old Hotpint aqualtis AQXXF149PI washing machine has started to get very noisy when spinning and has a burning rubber/electrical smell. Have the bearings gone? and if so, which part would I need and how much is it?

I called Hotpoint today and they said they will send an engineer round for £104 including all the parts as it's under 5 yrs so it may be worth me getting them in if the part needed is over £100 anyway. Why do these things happen just before christmas?! My oven element went on Christmas eve a couple of years ago but I managed to fix that myself
