I worked for them for many years and have been surprised by how high some are and low other times. I went to a job the other week where a guy had had a ferolli optima installed about 10 years ago, no rads, no flush, prv discharge straight onto cupboard floor, no compartment vents for the bargain price of ........7800not Bg but his heating engineer mate. I said nothing. There were plenty of boiler swaps by bg last year for 1500. That's all I'm saying, no good asking what a quote might be that is the whole point of getting one.
and no other quote will include a 3 or 5 year servicing and maintenance contract at a reduced rate either

gas4you said:As nick says they will tempt you with servicing offers but you will get a full 2 year warranty on a new boiler anyway, unless you fit rubbish like Glow worm, and an annual service is only about £60 + VAT.

Should the words "servicing and maintenance contract" not be changed to "safety/efficiency check & breakdown cover"?![]()

ChrisR said:ALways worth getting a BG quote. Sometimes they're more pernickety about rules and regs than others. You need to be aware.
Sometimes their quotes are 3 times a local, sometimes much the same.
Also be aware that they try to recruit every newly qualilfied beginner as a subbie, and you might get one of those putting your system in. They tried me, offering £200 for a combi swap and powerflush, expecting it to be done in a day. Shabby if you ask me.
