I'm researching replacement windows for a conversion ... including glass doors for a gap which already exists which is 5 m wide. I was wondering about bi-folds but am concerned that over time they may become drafty as this does seem to be a problem reported by others.
I guess other options are sliding doors or to have fixed glass on both sides and then a bit that opens in the middle or fixed glass on one side and opening on the other side.
The windows are south facing and it can be quite windy/exposed at times, overlooking countryside views. I don't want the house to become all the colder because of whatever choice is made as we are having to insulate well to make the required u values of the build
I want a good U value windows but do not want to pay over the odds. I am also leaning towards aluminium doors if they are bifold.
So I want a weatherproof, insulating and aesthetic option.
Any advice or manufacturer recommendations welcome.
