Are the border force and the RNLI losing their touch?

I have consistently said that I would like the system toughened up.

But letting people drown or sending them back to face torture would be red lines. That just wouldn't feel British to me.

I don't believe so. I think it's a yes or no type of situation.
Right so it could be zero that were facing death then - you are worried about a number you do not know.

I knew you would say that! But what other reason would there be for Farage to leave the international convention against torture. He clearly believes some of them face torture.

I don't see why you are so against simply investigating to find out whether they face torture or death. What harm would that do. We can return those who are safe once we have made the investigations. That would be the British way to do things.

For years the government have put out the notion that the channel crossing is very dangerous and that seemed to work but once they learned that you dont actually need to cross the channel at all- you only need to go half way then that danger is all but gone. I have paddled out further on my lilo than that.
No one has answered my question - do we have an almost permanent rescue boat stationed out there or do the rubber boat people call the coast guard and say they are in distress.

There are no figures for it - it could zero. And where do we stand if a US citizen facing the death penalty were to flee here, how about the kirk killer he could of come here before his family told the police, he faces the death penalty - would we send him back.
