Argh cant put anything on the wall

And he knows how to do that!

Nope, hence the question. The OP is now left none the wiser from your stupidity. It's not my fault.
It looks like I'm going to have to be very patient with you and explain in single syllable words.
Look for the question in the OP!
I've put it in bold and red in case you have difficulty recognising it! There is a clue, it has a question mark after it.
It seems everytime i want to put something on the wall there is something behind the plasterboard such as pipes or electrical wiring. How can i tell whats behind?

I got a stud detector and the area i want to drill has, according to the detector, wood, metal and an ac current. So basically its useless. What ever is behind is offering resistance so i dont want to drill harder.

The thing is, is that its not in line with any switches, not in line with any light fittings etc. Its in the bathroom and its the only wall i can put this cabinet onto.
I suspect that the OP is a bit wiser now. He knows what a dopey plonker you are!
Additionally, you have no advice for the OP!

Does he or does he not want to hang something on the wall. Yes or no.??? simple stuff
How many more times! He knows how to do that, he doesn't need advice on that!
He obviously wants to know what's behind the plaster board!
Read the OP! The question was "How can i tell whats behind?"
It wasn't "how can I hang something on the wall?"
Answer the question if you want to be any help instead of exploiting the opportunity of making a fool of yourself!

May I point in in the direction of " The most irritating pratt " post, you may want to make a nomination :ROFLMAO:

Thank you, but although he's made a fool of himself, I wouldn't go so far as to call him an irritating prat.

No idea what the other posts said, as some looked a bit ranty at you. So this is my own response. I bought a stud finder recently, a top quality Bosch one and I'm a bit disapointed with the results. I think it's becuase the plasterboard is foil-backed and so it detects metal everywhere... But you'll find it very useful to get a set of rare-earth magnets (very strong) in a small bag and hold the magnets losely and slide over the surface of your plaster board wall and you'll soon see where thee screws or nails into the stud work is. Clearly it doesn't work with dot & dab... When trying to find cables, keep in mind where the safe zones are supposed to be and that's where you should find cables.. but there are exceptions, so play it safe with your cable finder still. If you can, draw a decenent load through whichever cable you're trying to detect if that means temporarily swapping a lower power LED lamp with a high power incandescent one then do so.

And he knows how to do that!

No he doesn't. Think about it.

It's not the first or only time that he's put something on the wall. He wants to know how to tell what's behind the plaster board each time he wants to put something on the wall!
Obviously you haven't given it much thought.

Perhaps you might be better off just reading bolo's and nozzle's responses and deciding which if any most suits your query.

Sorry for the rants on your thread.

Can i just chime in here as the op and say what the **** is going on lol

What the hell has it got to do with you !!!!! Only joking. Himagin sets himself up on a pedastle and he just needs to be knocked off it, he thinks he's superior when in fact he's inferior that's all.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Info I've posted is good for you're problem.
