Only passing on what was told on the course. Legal to buy but illegal due to electric regs I suppose he meant.

I also have radar detectors and a laser jammer in my van. At the moment legal to buy and use. Legislation was due to be brought in last November making them illegal to use, but as always with this government, has been delayed for some reason (luckily). Illegal to use in France though.

Laser jammer has saved my licence many times now 8)

So they are - the court case which ruled that the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 as amended by section 3 of the Post Office Act 1969 did not apply to radar detectors had completely passed me by.

Got a problem with obeying the law, have you?

If it has "saved your licence many times" that means that you have grossly exceeded the speed limit "many times", or you consistently exceed the speed limit and would have lost your licence many times over via totting-up.

I shall write to my MP and request that should the opportunity arise he give the proposed change in the law his support, and maybe dangerous scum like you can be taken off the roads.

?? I'm lost as to the relevance of driving skills or lack of them has to do with the Electrics UK section of this forum?? :?

They don't really, but following my incorrect comment about the legality of radar detectors gas4you indicated that he thought it was cool to grossly and/or repeatedly exceed the speed limit.

I'm sure the mods will take exception to what I called him for that, but given the irrefutable evidence that speeding results in more collisions and more severe casualties, I can't think of anything nice to say about someone who deliberately chooses to act in a way that makes him more likely to have an accident, and more likely to kill or injure other road users, because he thinks it's cool.

And I don't see why he should escape censure just because he stated his belief on an electrical forum.

Not disagreeing with your sentiments but you should start a new thread in general discussion to air your viewpoint not here.

Here is where gas4you stated his belief that extra collisions, injuries and deaths are cool, so here is where he gets stick for it.

And then the Mods lock the thread because of your biatching! that makes sense doesnt it, thats what GD is for not EUK.

Well, if it's gonna get locked anyway

I have no problem with the more severe casualties bit BAS but could you provide the irrefutable evidence about speeding results in more collisions please.

I have yet to be 'zapped' on a section of road that is known to be dangerous, or has a history of casualty's or accidents.

Most laser traps are in areas that are selected for indirect revenue against the driver, not for safety aspects. I can see no safety issue on clear dual carraigeways or motorways.

Some speed cameras are in accident locations and therefore when my warning device goes off I am reducing speed, therefore making that dangerous stretch of road safer for all around me, as those who do not know the camera is there carry on speeding.

FYI I also have it set to warn me of accident blackspots, schools or any other areas that a reduction in speed is required for the benefit of other road users or pedestrians. I would not bother to buy the standard cheap skate devices that only warn of speed traps.

I agree this is not appropriate for this forum

we may as well rename this section as GD2!
So if a poster calling himself UnclePervy said that his sister and her family sometimes came to stay, and he wanted advice on how to safely install a hidden camera in the bathroom so that he could spy on his 5-year old niece in the bath, you'd just answer his questions would you, saying to yourself "This is an electrical forum, it's not the place to criticise him"?
