Sir Keir Starmer has labelled comments about immigration made by billionaire Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe as "offensive and wrong".

Sir Jim, founder of one of the world's largest chemical companies, Ineos, told Sky News on Wednesday that the UK had been "colonised by immigrants" and suggested the prime minister was "too nice" to do "difficult things" to stabilise the country's economy.

In his rebuke on Wednesday evening, Sir Keir added that Britain was "a proud, tolerant and diverse country" and called on Sir Jim to apologise.

A spokesperson for No 10 also called on the businessman to apologise, saying the comments "play into the hands of those whoh want to divide our country".

Don't tell me another 'fool billionaire' who's been hoodwinked by Nigel. Lolz

This is the same PM outraged by someone saying there is hardly any white faces in Brummie (in fact he said it again during PMqs when he was getting spanked by Kemi. )

So let's fact check that observation from Jenrick using stats. From Birmingham AC website .
"The Asian ethnic group constitutes 60% of the total population. The next largest ethnic minority group is Black (22%), followed by the White population (12%)"

Can you hand on your heart say Jenrick was racist or wrong to make this observation. Some things we don't like to hear. It doesn't make them wrong. I refer you to Sir Jim's comments.

If Ratcliffe didn't live in Monaco, he might have more accurate information about the UK.

He claimed that the UK population has increased by twelve million since 2020. It is actually three million. That is Trumpian levels of delusion. He claimed that UK manufacturing was 25% of the economy in 1995, when it was actually 16%. After watching the full video, I was surprised by how out of touch he seemed to be in general. Perhaps it's time he retired.

But he knows that racists feed on misinformation that 'reaffirms' their beliefs ;)

Your question is based on a fallacy.
"was racist or wrong" are not alternatives. They can both be, and are both incorrect in that context.
So the only possible answer is "yes"., he was both racist and wrong. He wasn't one or the other.
Then there's the discussion about a university population compared to the general population. They're not comparable.
It's like comparing the population of Harvard Uni, and suggesting they reflect the IQ, or average wealth, or any other meaningless comparison, to the general population of USA.

well the Muslim Manchester United supporters club are not happy interviewed this morning on the news

Blimey there is even segregation in foot ball supporters clubs :giggle:

Not open to non Muslims ??

Pathetic and disgraceful how anyone could be so offended by what he has said. brought football into dispute OMG I find it offensive how our soft prime minister went down on one knee for black lives matter as well as all of the football teams that were doing it. OMG I am so offended.
