Apparently priti patel was looking at reopening the penal colony as an asylum seekers 'processing centre'...

Maybe someone ought have mentioned to her that the airport is closed to any plane that is capable of flying there from the UK, as the runway won't be repaired for several years

Unless of course she wanted to bring back 'transportation ships' as well...

borisconi and goebbels appear to be putting an awful lot of ideological numpties into government!

A good idea! Once news gets out that all these channel hoppers will go straight to Ascension Island while they are processed instead of just having to make it to the nearest coastguard vessel, you’ll find that the numbers of those trying to enter the land of milk and honey will drastically reduce. (y)

is there a link where we can contribute towards the repair of the runway?

Ascension Island is big enough to fit 17.4 million people.

Let's get that runway working again

You can even rename it Little Britain and have total sovereignty, total independence, no need for pesky trade deals.

To be fair the place looks stunning, it has good weather and people could be allowed to roam freely. Immigration worked rather well for the U.S and for a slightly different reason, Australia. The only problem I could see is that a dingy can't be re-fuelled by a Handly Page Victor as were used back in 1982.

the land of milk and honey

Ha! But there is no money tree. We are in recession. The Tories just spent everything we had financing their mates' businesses.

Most people coming here do so because they have family here already, and they speak the language. Those are the main pull factors.

Not a fan of concentration camps personally, glad to hear Priti rejected it.

Surely it would be better than the devastated, war torn, persecution ravaged, hell hole they came from? No not France, the one they left their families in, several countries ago.
