When driving my Astra 2000 hatchback I am getting a loud groining noise. If driving in a straight line, then its moderate, but when I turn left it gets louder and when I trun right it goes away.

I was wondering if this was a ball bearing?

If so, how do I found out which one to get it fixed?

Could be a number of things. Take it to alocal garage and get it looked at. It sounds a lot like one of your CV joints which is common on Astras

could be a wheel bearing. If you jack the car up and wiggle the wheel from top to bottom, you'll see if there is any play in it.
While it's up in the air, give it a good spin and listen for any rumbling.
Do it with all 4 wheels as it's hard to pinpoint where the problem lies when you're driving it

Thanks for the quick reponses.

Any idea on costs for getting a CV joint replaced or the ball bearing?
