astra reverse light switch

my reversing lights packed up so i had a look at the swith all o.k.
took the switch out and reconnected it and when i pressed the plunger lights worked.
put switch back into gbox and reconnected lights worked ok.
started car and moved back and forward light do not work anymore tried this several times got exactly the same result wondering now if it is something inside the gbox thats at fault.
any ideas

Its probably a worn switch.
New one should be under a tenner.

Not an MOT failure btw, so if you can put up with it, leave it!

do i have to buy reversing switch from vauxhall or can i get them from other suppliers cheaper

Local motor factors will tell you if they do one. I should think you can buy a pattern one by now.
