Thanks for advice so far.
I have had a quote from a local plumber and he's quoted me £750 to drain the system and replace the immersion cylinder.
My boiler is quite old and noisy with primitive controls, would it be worth considering just replacing the boiler with a combi-boiler and doing away with the immersion tank completely?
