attic conversion

Hi. i plan to convert my attic. im putting in a suspended floor using rsjs. i cant afford to get a crane to lift up the full length rsjs so im getting them in halfs.

so heres my question.

when im joining the beams with bolts etc do i need any other support under the rsj (in the middle) or is the bolts etc strong enough.

Your engineer will need to design the connection including size of plates/number/size of bolts etc, it (theoretically) will be as strong as if there were no joint at all.

suspended joist with wood?

are you using a hanger?

My new joists is/will be off current walls front and rear and the center wall.
just wondered if that was an option, as everyone I spoke too said you must need steel work, but after looking around i guessed that it would be possible, and found a structural engineer whom proved it with calcs. All passed off now
