AVG probs

I am running ME with OE/IE6.

My AVG Free Edition 7.0 has a conflict with OE. When connecting to send and receive, you get the following error:

The server responded with an error. Account: 'mail.freenetname.co.uk', Server: 'mail.freenetname.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

To enable connection to the server, you must disable the AVG e-mail scanner plug-in.

Anybody know what the problem is?

Are you using the very first release of AVG7? My mother got something like this so I went back to grisoft and found a newer AVG7. This solved the problem.

The first AVG7 was downloaded as avg70free_296a409.exe
The one that worked properly (so far) was avg70free_300a456.exe

I went on the AVG forum and got advice there. It was suggested that I uninstall my out of date Norton AV, and that did the trick.

Felix, I uninstalled AVG and reinstalled it yesterday, to see if it was corrupted. The versions are:

AVG 7.0.308, db version 266.11.2.
