AVI Sound lose

I have a vcr tape that I have recorded to my pc using wintv2000. This tape plays ok through the wintv. When I record it to my hard drive (I want to put it on a dvd) after about 10 mins I have lost the sound from the recording but watching it record the sound is there. Any ideas. I have tried this 3 times now & its a 45 min tape.

does it work ok on your pc if you use another tape ?

does that tape play ok all the way with sound on a vcr connected to a tv ?

Tim thanks for the link been there tried, still cant get it working, but I havnt given up yet.
