App to play MP4 files (video)

my phone records video clips as MP4. I can't play then on my PC (I used to have Nero which I think came with a DVD drive, but it has expired and I didn't like it enough to renew)

Is there a good free player?

I may say it's free, but it requires a registration code which of course I haven't got

Also it seems to be a converter, not a player
