I am working on a 3.5hp B&S engine with a 'Choke O Matic' carb and there is a problem with the adjustment jet housing. As in the picture below, the housing is plastic with a plastic inner 'sleeve' in which the metal screw sits. This inner sleeve has fallen out and I can see no way that it is held in place. Does it just push in and click home somehow?
I will try and upload a better picture but the housing is the circular one with the black inner bit (the screw is already removed in this shot). The photo was taken before the thing fell out.
Thanks in advance

Hell, that's an old one (sorry for the late reply, only just seen it) ....the mixture adjustment screw on these is held in place by the friction of the rubber grommet, which expands a bit to keep it tight.
Hopeless design, but once set, it seems to work well enough.

Just to add.....when you get the motor running at full revs, undo the screw until the engine starts to slow down......it'll chuff some black smoke as the mixture is too rich. Then, turn the screw in until it just runs sweetly - no more!

Thanks John. Got it running well today. 1980 vintage, I think.

Nice one! I hope there's not much rust in the tank - the filter on the end of that dip pipe is very fine. Aluminium tanks are used now.
John :)
