Afternoon Guys

Have just recently changed a single existing socket to a double socket...had 2 sets of live, neutral and earth wires in the previous single socket, so rewired accordingly into the double.

Then decided to add an additional double socket on the other side of the room, therefore channelled the new wire around the room into the new double socket.

Problem: Once the mains is turned back on, the new double socket works fine, but the converted double socket fails to function, even though there is a live feed.

Advice anyone??????

Don't think there is anything wrong with the sockets as they are brand new!!!

My call to confusion is why the new socket works and not the original where the power was taken from????

Brand new does not always guarantee working! The new spur will work due to the wires touching each other and making contact but as I said a poor termination at the non-functioning socket may lead to it not working as described.

Swop them. If the fault follows the socket, as expected, then there's a new connection problem it's just developed. Replace and sling the old.

Thanks Guys

Will try old socket before connecting the new spur!!!

Will inform you of the outcome!!!
