Has anyone got a solution to make the back door a bit narrower as it's unusually wide, it's on a 1930s semi with cavity walls, imperial face brick below and rendered above so I'm not even going to try to copy it, my only solution I can think of is to use a waterproof type engineering brick that would bring it in 110mm and use plenty of screw in wall ties but thought with the door slamming it might not last long.

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it important to reduce the masonry opening size or just bring the door size down to a more manageable width?

Timber or upvc?

The door leads out from the kitchen which is quite small and every bit of wall space I can reclaim would be a bonus.

I don't really want to just fit the extension bits on the frame.

I'm about to go back up to the house now and will take some measurements.

UPVC door to replace existing flimsy wooden door.
