Issue:
Baisi Riva M96.24SM
Expansion vessel/tank is leaking, therefore CH is de-pressurising.
I have drained CH off, put the controls to DHW only but no hot water when called for and boiler will not fire up.
Is this because of the pressure being low on CH side?
If so is this common to all gas boilers?
If not what is the problem?

The boiler won't light if the pressure is low, on heating or hot water.

Your boiler uses the central heating water to pass heat to the hot tap water. No c/h water, no hot tap water. Most combis are the same but not all. So in your case you will have to get the expansion vessel sorted and fill the system up to get your hot water back on.

Thanks for the replies and information. Waiting on gas engineer now to replace existing or fit external expansion vessel, been held up by the weather.
