What could be the possible causes of banging on a open vented y plan system. Coming from the cylinder cupboard. I wonderd if the 3 port valve could cause this. The pump seems ok there is a bypass before the 2 port valve and no pump over run. Apparently it happens on start up.

If valve is ball type, change to Shutter type three port. Pump can sometimes slam the ball type valve

well is it a 3 port or a 2 port, unlikely you will have both unless you have an unvented HW cylinder
