Basic garden hose connector problem

I've bought a reel for my garden hose, but it wasn't supplied with any connectors to attach the hosepipe to the reel, or to connect the reel to the hose from the tap.
Having looked at the Hozelock range there is a bafflingly wide range of connectors available, and I have no idea which ones I should purchase. I was wondering if anyone could take a look at the photos of the connectors on my reel, and advise on exactly what sort of connector I need to connect the hose to each?

Is it a HOZELOCK reel? If so, is there a part/model number?

FYI, the outer connection appears to be the same as mine but the inner connection is totally different. You will need a set of connectors but please read my thread [link posted below] before considering what to buy.

Normally, the hose would need a set of connectors such as those in the link below. The yellow one fits onto the tap. One of the connectors fits onto the hose and then to the yellow tap connector. The red connector fits at the very end of the hose (so you can fit the sprayer etc.) It is red as it has a water stop on it. In between, a connector fits on to the end of the hose between the tap and the outer connector (but see my post) inside, the reel normally comes with the fitting to join the hose to the outer connector. However, you may need to refernce the MIs as I am unfamiliar with the internal connector type (it is not the same as mine)

A typical kit is shown listed below FYI.

No, it's not a Hozelock reel. I bought it at Toolstation - it doesn't seem to be branded. To my untrained eye the inner and outer connections look identical. The instructions explained how to assemble the reel, but not how to connect the hosepipes to the inside or outside of the reel. No hose connectors were supplied.

I'm guessing that the yellow/grey connector from the Screwfix set could be used for both the internal and external connections on the reel, but Hozelock seem to have several parts which look very similar to it, and I have no idea which would be appropriate. For example, do you think I could use any or all of the following connectors (for both the internal and external connection)?

Most of the connectors are standard for 12.5mm hose so those all look okay. They will fit the 'nipple' fittings on both the tap connector (like the yellow one in the kit) and the grey one on the outside of the cart. However, please note what my one did with the cart fitting.

Not familiar with the TOOLSTATION internal fitting type but if it is basically the same nipple as the external one (grey washered) then I assume you could use the same generic connector inside the reel. My hozelock's internal fitting involves putting the reel hose into the hole in the inside of the fitting then tightening up the connector which then grips with the internal teeth. The external connector is the same as yours. See diagram below.

Not sure how fitting a bulky connector inside the reel will work but you could give it a try with one of the other connectors first (e.g. the external or tap one) to see if it works.

Only issue I can see is that having two connectors on the reel might cause twice the problem I had (blowing off) This was only resolved by purchasing brass connectors (as you may have read, even the replacement sent to me by HOZELOCK Customer Services didn't fix the problem)

Hope that helps.

I actually replaced both the connector AND the 'nipple' with brass ones but that's just me (I was sick fed up of the issues by then) Hope all goes well.
