This is the kickboard/plinth in our kitchen. You can see that it’s in two pieces. (There is one shot where the two pieces are jammed together and it is staying in place, but of course it’s still broken.) The surface is white laminate on both sides.

How to fix? Something simple for a novice would be lovely. It doesn’t have to look great, obviously! Thanks in advance!

Put a plywood patch on the back. Glue the the pieces tightly together, and screw the patch on as reinforcement.

You can also buy new plinth at modest cost. It is usually about 150mm high.

Screw and glue a piece of ply or mdf to the back of it with suitable length screws and fill the crack with caulking.

P.s.

If you are renewing it, a dark colour will look fine.
