I need to replace one of these:

This looks pretty close but not an exact match, will it work as I want to tie in the existing overflow fitting.

Finally, I’ve seen a lot of videos online using the Thomas Dudley kit. Would that work with this fitting?

Thanks in advance.

What overflow fitting are you referring to ?
By the way the blue seal on the waste pipe is fitted back to front .
You wouldn't need any other "kit" to fit the replacement waste.

It’s the silver bit that needs to be replaced. But want it to connect into the existing overflow stick thing.

Not sure what you are trying to explain.
The silver part above the basin ,and the silver part below the basin are all part of the same waste assembly,as are the silver rods and linking parts. The whole lot are a set.
Does that clarify things for you ?

That's not an overflow as per @terryplumb it's part of the popup waste connected to the tap. Like for like or silicone seal the small hole at the tap or change the tap too.
Ah, I get it now.
Can I leave this bit (circled in black) hanging under the sink and fit a normal push waste? Won’t need to silicone the tap hole then, if I’ve understood correctly.

The bit you're leaving dangling. It's only using a o-ring - tap end. Should be fine, just to make you aware is all
But I’m not changing anything at the tap end. This piece will be dangling under the basin but connected to the tap as it was. Are they normally prone to leaking as I’m not increasing that risk?

No not normally prone to leaks. As I said, should be fine.

I’ve read lots of good stuff about the Thomas Dudley kit. Do you guys use that and recommend it in this situation?
