bath removal

Hi,
I am replacing a bathroom suite and wanted to remove the bath,so as to do tiling and repairs to the floor and plasterboard.
Could I put the old taps on without the bath so I could turn the water back on?
I was wondering if anyone could advise wether this is a good idea or not.

You could do, but it would be better to fit stop-ends or service valves as you are then a bit less likely to have a flood.

Service valves will in any case be handy when you come to install the new bath. You can get full-bore ones which are inelegant with a big lever; but won't show after the bath is panelled in.

The advantage of full-bore over those little ones, is that they won't obstruct the water flow.
