Bath Trap - Optimum Water Seal

Hi Everyone

I was wondering if someone could help ?

What is the optimum water seal for a bath trap ?

I tried to fit a trap with a 75mm seal, but there is not sufficient space to get it in, without cutting away part of the flooring.

A trap with a 50mm seal goes in fine, but I wondered if cutting away part of the flooring was the best thing to do, so as to have a bigger water seal ?

I would appreciate any comments / experience.

Minimum depth is 50mm according to Building Regs. You might put a deeper one in if it was a particularly long run, but it's generally not necessary
