I’ve got a McAlpine 40mm bath trap which should screw on fully but as you can see the bath leg frame is in the way & is pushing it down a little which does not allow it to properly screw on? What’s the best way to go about this?

Turn the trap to face the other way , away from the legs. And extend the waste pipework to the trap.

Can I have it turned slightly rather than the whole way? I just assumed that it had to be straight?

Change the trap, especially if it discharges into a soil stack, as that trap shouldn’t be used. Something like an SM10
