Hi folks.
I'm having the house decorated. In the bathroom the access to the main water valve is a hole in the wall.It was patched up with a bit of wood with 4 edges that had to be unscrewed when access was needed,
It was a complete eye sore.
Any ideas what I should do with it to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing as well as having to unscrew it and thus messing up the paint work every time access is required?
Thanks folks.

There are lots of pre formed access hatches out there.

Hang a picture over it ? :p

Hi folks.
I got it filled in and an access panel door fitted.
What i'd like to know is should the gyprock be plastered to make it suitable for painting?
What's the best action to take to get the outside area in the best possible condition for painting or possibly even hanging new lining paper and then painting as I think it may look a bit dodgy just painting it?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks Folks!

Remove cover/frame, Use Easi-fill or dry lining filler to smooth out, sand down when dried and paint then refit cover/frame.

Daniel.

Remove cover as per Danny's post but also

rub down/ scrape any raised bits and put some scrim tape around, then easy fill

Otherwise it will just crack on the joint

Watered down emulsion on first coat

Are you talking about removing the access panel?
There isn't any other cover or frame?

The white plastic cover you have installed, it just makes it easier to get a good finish around the joint on the plasterboard, then pop the access panel back in

Or scrim and fill it with it insitu if that's easier for you
