Hi, we are planning on partitioning our 1st floor bathroom into 2 rooms i.e. a shower room and a bedroom.
I would like to know what I am allowed to do legally without requiring LABC notification or a qualified plumber...any work which I am not legally allowed to do I will get a plumber in for.
Here's a rough sketch of what I want to do...
Current design on the left and what I want to do on the right. The lines represent the paths taken by the water supplies and drainage.
I understand that an extractor fan will need to be fitted by a Part-P spark even though I have over 20 years experience as an electrical engineer in industry I can't do it myself
Given the above can I?
1) Move the sink...means shortening the water supplies and replumbing into drainage
2) Move the toilet, again shortening the cold water feed but also extending the foul water drainage outside the house so it reaches.
3) Install the drainage for the shower and the shower tray.
4) Install the shower water feeds (these will come up inside the partition wall) and fit double check valves and a thermostatic mixer tap...no electrics involved here as water will be heated by my combi boiler.
5) Put up a non load bearing partition wall and door.
I'd like to know how much money I can save doing it myself but I also don't want a problem when I eventually sell the house if I don't have the necessary building works certs etc.
