I'm a keen DIY enthusiast thinking of embarking on a bathroom renovation. The tiling etc is not a concern but the plumbing bit will be something new to me. Only previous experience is fitting a new kitchen sink.

My main issues are -

1) Relocating the bath. The taps will be moved about two metres with two 90 degree bends - one to find the right position in the floor, one to take the pipes to the bath height.. It's copper pipe. Are compression fittings suitable or does this have to be welded? I've never welded before but I have used compression fittings. There'll be the same issue when moving the water supply for the sink.

2) The toilet will be moved. How would I seal up the old waste pipe and hole in the wall?

3) Is it best to lay tiles - wall and floor - prior to fitting the toilet and drilling the hole for the new toilet waste or to tile around?

4) Are the cold water supply for the toilet and cold water tap on the sink interchangeable? I ask because The cold water supply that is currently going to the sink is in exactly the right place to supply the newly relocated toilet.

Any help would be appreciated along with general suggestions or warnings.

If these questions seem really basic, it's still in the planning stage. Just want to clarify things as I think of them.

Thanks in anticipation.

Stu.
