Hello,

I posted a query in the Electrics thread (see here) but have not had much in the way of responses, so I'm trying here.

Here's hoping!

The vinyl will need to be 10mm above the UFH mat.

How you enclose the mat will depends on the specs of the UFH

If you are retaining the traditional heating in the space, vinyl is quite warm to the touch etc, I'm not so sure you'll see much benefit in such a small space, it will also cause height changes to the Hall/Landing.

Thank you for your reply.

Thinking of fitting a heating cable rather than a mat.

What sort of board or insulation is suitable to go over the cable but under the vinyl floor covering?

Thinking of using this kind of decoupling mat over the insulated floor.

Can I just put a marine plywood surface over this ready for the vinyl?

Or would I need somthing like this over the decoupling mat, then marine ply, then the vinyl?

Option A - Soundproof & Waterproof Mat

Option B - Shower Liner

The UFH product will specify what the manufacturer recommends but in short the vinyl will need a stable firm surface, nothing spongy etc.

Thanks CD.

In your opinion, would marine ply over the orange decoupling mat be fine?
