Hi

The vent in the bathroom seems to be blocked and the condensation is starting to damage the ceiling now. The wall with the vent is an exterior wall so does the vent just go straight out ? Or does it go into the attic space above (there is an attic above with a sloping roof ?).

Outside on that wall is some dodgy filling at about the same location as the vent - is it possible that someone has plastered over the exterior vent ?

Should I hack away the dodgy filling outside ?

Some photos attached, cheers.

yes, it is very possible that some stupid twunt has blocked it.

Some people have an aversion to ventilation.

It is often these same people who complain that their house was badly built because it suffers from damp and mould.

Open it up for now, and consider upgrading to an extractor fan.

Agree with John, might as well pop an extractor fan in the vent position and it should be simple to connect up to power in the loft.

these usually vent the cavity as well, so if blocked damp will appear.
