I moved in to a house with a Scantronic 9800 alarm which has now decided to go off (internal alarm) despite not being set. I guess the battery requires replacing. To get some sleep I've disconnected the actual alarm. can some one confirm the battery is located in the control pannel and if so how do I remove the front cover without damaging it. There doesn't seen to be any exteral screws.

Thanks in antisipation of a prompt response.

there are screws but they on the top front of the panel, not the key pad which has no screws.

the panel is a big white box about 15 inches wide about 12 inches tall about 4 inches deep

low battery is indicated by Lb (although some think its L6) on the key pad

Breezer, thanks for reply. will have to look for this box, can't say I've seen it. The fault on the key pad is bF for battery fault. Am I on the wrong track?

Regards

Phil

No bf is battery fault on some of the later panels. As breezer said just take off the fornt cover and change it for a new one of the same size and type preferably

i always forget that one, but people do think it says something that it isnt

but i am right about the panel (dimensions aprox) it may be a really old one with 4 screws (one in each front corner)
