Having just bought I new built in oven I decided to get it out of the box to retrieve the instructions from inside (planning ahead and all that!)... with the oven on it's back the door is quite stiff to open and when in it's fully open position it wants to spring closed again!

This worries me a little... should the oven door stay in the open position when I let go... or are they designed to do this? Some one mentioned adjustable hinges but there is nothing about them in the instruction book.

Could it be that it was simply because I had the oven on it's back (there wasn't enough room in the garage to get it out of the box AND turn the oven up-right!)

Any advice or re-assurance would be most welcome!

Cheers all

I would think its because its on its back, the weight of the door plus the hinge and added help from Mr Gravity is making it close.

The easy way to reassure yourself, is to put it rightway up and try it. You can move it out of the garage:idea:

I had planned to move it over the weekend and try it properly... but i do worry!

Cheers for the reply
