One easy thing to do...

Turn the power off.

Take the front of the receiver off.

Take the wires out of terminals A and B.

Splice them together.

Turn the power on.

Does the boiler fire?

If yes - guffed receiver.

If no - guffed boiler PCB.

Power off and put it all back as it was and replace accordingly.

Its surprising how many people fiddle with thermostats/programmers until they realize the knob on the front of the boiler is turned down ;)

I love those call outs.

Especially when they have been waiting 2 weeks for the appointment

Husbands tend to get a clobbering from missus - especially the bolshy ones ;).

Absolute favourite is the summer/winter switch on the summer setting and a new programmer and stat fitted recently and the "somebody kill me now" look on the hubbys face.

Dan i appear to have no wires in terminal A of the receiver. I have a blue and brown in the live and neutral, a black in B and gray in C.

There is no reason why anyone rewiring the house would have fiddled with the thermostat receiver.
