Hi my trusty old baxi 105e is starting to get a bit noisy, the sound is coming from the pump . I've noticed you can get loads of refurbished pumps on eBay for around £50 . Is it worth buying refurbished or am I better off buying a new one ?
Thanks Dave

you are better just getting one off ebay
As the proper pumps now due to legislation have to be energy efficient and will set you back anything up to around 300 quid IF NOT MORE

and as i said could cost a lot more .

Well yes but it's not a competition to find the highest price for the same item. You can always pay over the odds if you want to

its a case of most people would use local places and be caught out
and its not worth spending a lot on a 105e that is now over 20 year old when you can get a perfectly good old style pump off of ebay

Would this fit ?

Just a couple more questions if that's ok . Could I just replace the head with the 4 bolts ? , and leave the plastic bit where it is ? .
Would the new style pumps be quieter?

Thanks Dave

if you used the old style pump then yes you can just change the head . but not the new.

.
When you do change the whole pump including the housing do not pull and wiggle it too much as you can disturb the the pipe that goes up to the heat exchanger . Also there is a bush that sometimes sticks in the pump housing . Carefully remove this afterwards and put back into the brass block . use plenty of silicone grease on the o rings when replacing the pump . .
to drain the boiler you can usually just isolate it on the valves underneath and then there is a little white knob under and to the right of the pump undo this and the boiler will empty

That sounds much harder. I think I will just buy an old style pump and replace the head . Any recommendations on places to buy refurbished or is it much of a muchness?

Thanks guys
