Hi all, I have a baxi 401 back boiler the other day it stopped working the pilot light never went out it just wouldn't fire up, have checked the supply all the way down to the grey plug under the gas valve and all is fine, when u turn the thermostat up the pump turns on the fire just doesn't kick in, should mention this has previously done this a couple of months back but was only off for a day and it started working again, boiler was serviced July last year, if anyone has any solutions or could recommend someone from my area who could have a look and possibly repair for a reasonable price that would be great, I am in coatbridge just outside Glasgow, cheers Robert.

Richard III who posts here could potentially do it as its in his area.

Although he should really be retired but does seem to still do a bit of work.

He is very familiar with those older boilers!

So who did it for you and what was total cost?

I dont think I have heard of them although we have about three guys on here who work in your area.

Very reasonable price though. Probably even less than I would have charged!

I do hope that he carried out the ( essential ) tests on the boiler and fire with smoke matches and smoke pellets!
