Baxi Bermuda problems. No heating or hot water

I hope somebody can help me.

I have recently moved into a new flat but the heating is not working. I discovered that the Baxi Bermuda fireplace has the boiler behind it.

Every time that we try and turn on the connection to the fireplace for the ignition then the fuse goes at the mains and all other plug sockets stop working too. Apparently there appears to be now water in the immersion tank and so this could be the answer???

We have been using electric heaters but this is eating up money so quickly.

The flat is like an icebox. Hopefully somebody can help.

what do you mean connection ie programmer or the main electric switch ?

what ever it is sounds like you have a short somewhere.

If you have no water inthe cylinder, the house may have been drained to prevent freexe 'n burst. Be careful about lihting th eboier in any case as it may be empty.

Seriously, if you have no service history for the boiler,you realy need to engage an RGI to recomission and possibly service. Don't just ask for a sevice, but explain your predicament. DON'T phone full page yellow page ads - you'll lose at least one arm.

Whatever the chequered history of the property if you want to be warm and have hot water over the holiday period you should act pretty quickly to get it sorted out.

There are also serious safety issues with open flued boilers like that if they have not been checked for safety.

Assuming that you have bought the flat then the seller might be responsible for the costs of putting it right if the faults were not disclosed prior to the signing of the Contract to purchase.
