Hi there

I have a baxi bermuda back boiler around 15 years old

I have noticed recently when the central heating is on (CH and hotwater), it makes a loud grinding noise for around 2 mins then stops, the noise coming from one of back of the fire,(in my kitchen) close to where the pump is.

can anyone suggest what this may be or if it is something to worry about

many thanks

the only part which could make that kind of noise is the pump.

It may be impending failure!

However check the header tank to ensure its full of water to about 100 mm.

If you have heating insurance then it may cover the pump but it depends totally on the policy wording. Many policies exclude sludge and that often is the cause of pump failure.
