Hi

Newbie here. Just wanting a bit of general advice in case I need to call a plumber out so that I don't get ripped off.

I have the above boiler which has been fitted in my house for about 5 years now. I have just put the heating on today and everything seemed to be working fine, then after about half an hour, the burner light went out on the boiler and it just stopped. Running a hot tap fires the burner back up and when I turn the hot tap off the burner stays on and the central heating starts to warm up for a bit....then the burner light goes out again.

Does anyone know what this may be? There are no indicator lamps flashing to give me any idea as to what the fault maybe. My missus fiddled about with the pressure and it was sitting at about 2.5 whilst it was fired up. I'm not sure how you can lower the pressure, if at all but wasn't sure if this might be the problem, although the manual states a normal operating temperature of between 1.0 and 2.0 but should not exceed 2.5 bar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It seems to point to the 3 way valve. You may get a few answers on here, you may get a few answers when you call someone out. :)

Thanks for the prompt reply, from the link how can you work out that its pointing to the 3 way valve...sorry I know nowt about boilers as you can probably tell.

Is this something that I can check for myself by removing the front cover ?

Cheers again.

Crone, all I'm giving you is the knowledge to ask questions of whichever heating engineer you call to fix your boiler, I wouldn't suggest you do anything internally unless you know what you're doing. I know this won't help you to save money, but it may be better for your health :)

lol. Cheers for the advice.

I've noticed that the 80deg lamp doesn't light up either, so its not reaching its max temperature as well.

Time to call the plumber out (not tonight though). We have hot water and the fire, and the heating has been on for a bit so the house is relatively warm...although I don't think it'll stay that way for very long.
