baxi combi 80e plate heat exchanger whine

Yes.

Plain and simple. In order to service a boiler you do much more than clean the burner. It is imperative that gas tightness and combustion are checked, fluing, gas rating of boiler, potentially flue gases checked, ventilation requirements etc etc. Do you have a differential manometer? Can you gas rate a boiler? Confirm pipe sizing correct? Do you have a 500 pound plus combustion analyiser to check flue gases? can you calculate ventilation requirements?

It isn't about reading the manual, it's having the qualifications to check you are working safely and leaving the boiler safe.........

First comparing 747's to boilers then comparing the use of combustion analysers and differential manometers to cleaning burner fins.

I think he is confusing the tail fins on that 747 with the after burner in his jet boiler.

Talking of planes, the A300 which landed on the Hudson, the newspapers said the pilot had activated the "ditch" switch on the ceiling. In fact that was wrong !

He had forgotten to use the "ditch" switch and that may explain why it started to sink so quickly at the tail and fill with water up to the headrests.

You would have thought that with all that pilot training and sitting beside the "ditch" switch for all those flying hours. The only time in his career that he needed to use it, he forgot!

The manufacturers go to all the bother and expense of fitting "ditch" switches and the one time it should be used the pilot forgets!
